The movie stars CLARK GABLE and CLAUDETTE COLBERT. Absolutely stunning art deco style artwork, definitely one of the best looking Gable posters ever and totally different art from the one sheet for this film that went for more than $70,000 at auction and far far better looking ! . Unfortunately though - this window card had some aging blemishes where the papers great age, as is common, caused to form grody pukey looking splotches here and there but they were removed or greatly lightened by one of the best restorers in the country with advanced chemical treatment techniques and some light penciling that avoided any spraying. You do not see much change in texture when you look at this piece at a angle where usually watercolors or standard restoration would show a pronounced difference in surface texture where the age spots were fixed , this is not the case here. The top of the piece was sprayed and the matching is seamless with the rest of the poster, if in L.A. feel free to check this piece out in person it is as good as the post restoration photos make it appear. As the pre-restoration photos clearly show the corners were rounded slightly and there was a checkmark and one line of writing done in pencil at the top with two pinholes at the top also but otherwise it was in amazingly preserved condition as the 4 photo's at the top of this page before restoration show, no creases at all even slightly anywhere obviously alot of careful effort went into storing this poster thru the years. I've added the after paperbacking and restoration photos the last and bottom 2 on the right . There was only the restoration of these flaws performed and the paperbacking allowed the poster more support and the strengthening and the squaring of the corners . Since it had already won best picture since it's announcing this on the poster I assume this poster was printed in 1935 but it was still in it's original release and is considered a original release poster. Back to Top Sadly, some sellers of unlicensed movie poster reprints have resorted to exclaiming their reprints are originals or studio reissues " not posterhouse reprints" as one insincere Ebay seller claims whatever that gibberish means. Virtually all the unlicensed reprints of movie posters in all countries are from one source for the last 21 years since the illegal reprint/fake problem began in 1985 with Francis in London, England's beginning to "fake" originals, his product has almost always been 1 inch short so most of his one sheet size movie posters are 39 inches tall instead of the 40 inches they usually should be (until very recently when studio's began ocassionally printing some 39 inch tall posters for some reason). His reprints are grainy in the credits , the originals have no grain, and the out of focus, grainy, splotchy appearance on some of his posters are a dead giveaway. Upon reciept most reprints are very easy to recognize due to there horrible quality.
