Wells Time machine model with Tantalus box ' Description Up for auction is this very nice reproduction of the miniature time machine model and Tantalus box from the 1960 movie "The Time machine". Despite its small size (3.5 inches long) it is a faithful rendition of the famous movie prop and contains a great deal of detail. I am also including in this auction a FREE BONUS REPRODUCTION CONTROL LEVER!  It is made of wood, copper, and a 40mm wide crystal and comes with a wooden box with a velvet-lined cushion.  Four pieces of Time Machine memorabilia in one auction!     I built the model, Tantalus box, and control lever from scratch.  No kit parts were used! From the small lever on the console, which contains a real crystal, copper, brass and wood, to the intricate chair with velvet cushions and the brass rails and dish this small replica has all of the detail of a much larger model yet in its Tantalus box will fit on any shelf or mantel. I have tried to capture the detail with the pictures but you truly have to see this model to appreciate it. The Tantalus box which houses the model is eight inches long. It is made from wood with brass hinges and a brass knob. The top hinge has a stop to hold the lid open when displaying the model. The padded velvet interior is secured to the box with brass brads and the velvet base is recessed into the box bottom. The exterior is finished with artwork based on the Tantalus box used in the movie. Together the model and box present a striking display.  If you are a fan of the Time Machine movie you will not want to miss out on this one.
