Her first film was Lassie Come Home (1943) then National Velvit (1944). In 1963 Taylor made The Spectacular Cleopatra for which this mask was originaly taken. Liz would not sit still for makeup and hair tests so the makeup men took a cast of her face to experement with various effects. This started with this actual life cast mask of Elizabeth Taylor. Then it has been sculpturaly enhanced by me Erick Erickson. The Hair, Head piece, Beads and eye brows have been added to create a very lifelike display. I sculpted the eyes open showing expresion. This piece looks like the cover from a Sarcophagus. All of the original detail of the historic cast has been preserved. So the work of art you get has a direct link to Elizabeth Taylor. It's like having The Queen of the Nile right there with you. I am a fan and do what I do with love that you can see in the final work of art. I watched the Cleopatra DVD while I sculpted to further infuse the spirit of Taylor. The finnished piece is cast in USG's Tuf-Cal gypsum cement, it is fiber filled and has polymer additves to assure it will last forever. It measures 12" High X 10.5" Wide X 6.5" Deep. It is aproximatly 8 pounds unpacked. It is finished in Nile Gold then rubbed with an antiquing overlay to bring out the detail. The piece is then sealed with a clear coat to preserve the finish.
